Pea Ridge Elementary Kindergarten registration

We would like to place a notice of our upcoming Kindergarten registration for the 2014-2015 school year.  It will be held at Pea Ridge Elementary on April 9 and 10, 2014 from 8:00a.m. – 2:00p.m.  We will also have a late night registration on April 10, 2014 from 5:30p.m.-7:00p.m.  Children must be 5 years of age on or before September 1, 2014.  To register you must have: birth certificate, State of FL immunization record, State of FL school physical (less than one year old when school starts), child’s social security number and proof of residence (utility bill, lease agreement). SAFER Santa Rosa Annual meeting

The SAFER Santa Rosa Annual meeting sponsored by Interfaith Ministries is on May 7 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Lunch will be served. The location is: 4115 Soundside Drive off of Highway 98. Spring into Vegetable Gardening Series for Beginners

If you have ever considered planting a spring vegetable garden, attend a 3-week series to learn all you need to get started.  This workshop will be held on Monday evenings from 6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. starting March 24 until April 7.  The cost is $25 per person or $40 per couple and includes handouts and seed samples. Your registration includes all three events in the series:

March 24: Getting started with a vegetable garden; site selection; soil preparation; square foot gardening method; March 31: Seeding and transplanting basics; specifics on tomato, pepper, squash and cucumber;

April 7: General garden maintenance: watering, fertilizing, integrated pest management.

Clothing Drive for SRKH

Santa Rosa Kids House needs new and gently used clothes for boys and girls ages 6-18. Drop off your donations of new or gently used clothes for children ages 6 – 18, March 5 through 12,  at Santa Rosa Board of Realtors, 5373 Stewart St 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. All donations benefit Santa Rosa Kids House. The Santa Rosa County Democrats’ March potluck dinner meeting will be held at the United Way Headquarters, U. S. Highway 90 ( 6479-A Caroline St.), in Milton on Thursday, March 20, at 6:00 P. The Santa Rosa County Democrats Monthly Yard Sale will be held on Saturday, March 15, from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. at 5746 Stewart Street, Milton.  Items for sale will include toys, stuffed animals, books, kitchen items, glassware, tools, technology, collection of antique and vintage items, and many miscellaneous items.  In addition, there will be furniture and garden equipment for sale.  A breakfast will be available, $5.00 per person.  For information on delivery of items for donation, call DEC Headquarters, 623-2345, or contact Harold Webb, 623-8040.

Sacred Heart to Provide Free Health Screenings in March

During March, Sacred Heart Health System will provide free heart-health screenings in Pensacola, Cantonment, Milton and Bagdad for adults who are poor, elderly and uninsured. One location will provide free osteoporosis screenings. Heart-health screenings will measure blood pressure, blood sugar and total cholesterol, and can detect anemia. The screenings are helpful in diagnosing conditions that put people at high risk for heart attack, stroke, diabetes and other health problems. Osteoporosis screenings measure bone density.Following is the March schedule:

Santa Rosa Art Association

On Saturday, March 22, the Santa Rosa Art Association, Inc. a non-profit organization, will have a "Polymer Clay Pendant" class in building 4900 on the Milton campus of Pensacola State College from 10:00 to 12:00 noon.  The presenting artist is Sandi Lang who is now showing her artwork at "Dragonfly Gallery" and "Local Colour" in Milton, FL. She is proficient as a Polymer Clay Artist, Fiber Arts, Gourds and Pastels.  Kits will be available for a nominal fee under $5.00.  Please bring pasta clay machine and a tissue blade.  Everything else will be provided by the artist.  A fee of $10.00 for non-members.  Guests are very welcome.  For further info, call Linda Linzy at 251-987-5473; email beadtician@gmail.com or go to our website santarosaartassociation.com.  

 Pace Fire and Rescue conducting annual picture fund drive

The Pace Fire and Rescue District is conducting their annual Picture Fund Drive for 2014.  The proceeds will go toward their local benevolent fund which helps citizens and businesses in the Pace area that are displaced.  To achieve this goal, Chief Donnie Wadkins asks for every household within the Pace Fire/Rescue area to support this effort.  The drive will continue through June 1
