Friday night February 20, 2014, my husband and I were home with our dog Snoopy. About 8:30 Snoopy started barking and kept running around and going to the front door and back to get someone's attention. We could not see anyone in the front yard but my husband would not let me open the door. A strange car had driven down our driveway and parked near our side door. Still, no one had used the doorbells, one of them at the side door. The local police were called about 9 p.m. or so and reported the strange car still in our yard. At 9:15 p.m. they were called again. We were told police were busy in our neighborhood but would respond shortly. The unknown car left about 9:30 and no police had shown. They later rode by and did not even stop. We found two sets of footprints near our outside building and workshop. They led to the back to our lot and of course came back. All of our spotlights were turned on when we first discovered the unknown car. We wonder where the police were. If it had been a home invasion, someone would have been hurt.

Hey this is Dennis. My brother's keeper. Does President Obama notice a lack of opportunity for young black and Hispanic men? I believe opportunity exists for all people in America: black, white, yellow, and brown. Does it say there is special opportunity exists only for women, white men, Native American, Filipinos, Europeans, and Asians? I don't get it.

According to your article, the commissioners are asking for feedback about their proposed judicial center and I have a little feed back. Eight hundred and forty thousand dollars we're paying for a site in Pace so we can move our county seat over there. Doesn't this county own a lot of land in East Milton and Milton and probably all over the place? I think what we really ought to do is have an investigation. We ought to bring the state in and find out who in the heck is getting 840,000 dollars and what these crooks are up to. That's what I think. How's that for feedback? What's wrong with the present location? That's what I'd like to know.

This is Bobby. I keep reading in the paper where people are talking about driving to Scenic Highway and getting on the interstate and coming back. I don't even know what they're talking about. That don't make any sense. As far as building the courthouse in East Milton, I don't see the difference. I'd like to see it in East Milton just because it's cheaper. But why would you have to go to Scenic Highway if they build it East Milton? Highway 90 runs all the way to East Milton in case you never been out there. If they build it in East Milton, people in West Milton or Pea Ridge or Pace would have to drive east to get to it. If they build it toward Pea Ridge, then people in East Milton would have to drive west. It's the same difference either way. It doesn't make any sense what they're arguing. Thank you.

Hi, this is in response to Eileen's letter on Saturday, March 1. East Milton does have Highway 90 running through East Milton. It's an excellent location for the courthouse. That is the closest area to the jail, the local jail as well as the other jails out here. Also, Avalon Boulevard is not within city limits in case you didn't know that. I am well aware that East Milton is also not within city limits, but let's get our facts straight before we start saying which area needs it. We don't need any more traffic on Avalon. We don't need more traffic between Avalon and Pace. There's too much traffic on Highway 90 on that end of town now. Thank you.

In reference to the courthouse they're already discussing, if everybody knows it or not, the bridge is being built in East Milton over Blackwater to Munson Highway for hurricane routes. So, if they're going to build a bridge over the creek up there to build it down Highway 90 to West Milton or East Milton. Wherever they build, it they're going to be building bridges. Thank you.

I'm calling speak out about the judicial building on Highway 90. I called before and it's going to be a terrible nightmare because pedestrians are going to get killed 'cause people don't have cars to get to court. There ain't no sidewalks out there, concrete bridge, a lot of stuff, and I congratulate commissioner Joe Melvin for voting against it. If he runs for commissioner again he'll get my vote because it's a traffic problem on hwy 90 going toward pea ridge. If they put a courthouse out there it’ll make the situation worse. People in wheelchairs can't get out there. People on bicycles can't get out there. So I guess the court system is going to get a lot of contempt of courts, failure to appear charges. Maybe it's just a way to get money from poor people, the back of the poor people. Thank you Speak Out.

I was calling to express my dislike on the awful landscaping being done to the median on US Highway 90 in downtown. I knew that speak out is only a relief valve to relieve our frustrations, and that it does nothing to improve or correct anything. Most of the complaints need to be replacing of all of our city and county politicians. Until we do, we will continue to have the problems we've always had for years, so if you don't vote to replace them all in the coming election, don't complain cause you are part of the problem.

My name is Linda Brinkman. I live in Orange Park Florida. I'm interested to see if you're going to be covering the sexual assault trial of Ernest Lorenzo Parker which begins on March 5 in Milton. March 5 and 6, jury is supposed to be rendering a verdict on the 7th which is Friday. My daughter and I will be there. She is a juvenile that was molested by a staff member at the Milton Girl's School, which I know the newspaper's been involved in the past and I know that this facility's been closed down. My daughter and I will be there on March 4. I would love to get this story to the newspaper. The trial is going to be covered be March 5 6 and 7. I've called the Jack Times Union where I live. They weren't interested.

This is Mary and I'm a concerned senior citizen. I was reading the piece by Glen Mollette in Sunday's paper about assisted suicide in America. There is no assisted suicide. If a person kills their self it's suicide. If there is somebody that's helping them, that's murder. I suggest that you think about that. It's a very serious thing. You cannot play God. God knows when a person is supposed to die and not that. When anybody steps in, and they help what they call suicide, that's euthanasia. They're killing a person they don't think are able to live. That's not your business. That's God's.
