Pensacola Police surprised a Pace man Thursday morning who was in the process of holding up a CVS pharmacy on Ninth Avenue in Pensacola, say PPD. It happened just after 7:30 a.m. when Scott E. Donaldson, 21, entered the pharmacy and gave a note to an employee. Reports say the note demanded narcotics and pointed out he had a gun. While the pharmacist went about getting what he asked for, Donaldson didn't know a marked police cruiser was sitting in the drive thru. Officer Mike Cyr was on his way to work and stopped at the pharmacy to pick up a prescription. Reports say Donaldson noticed the car and fled to a vehicle nearby. A call was dispatched to officers at 7:34 a.m. and Cyr and Detective Jeff Brown, who works at Wal-Mart on Creighton while off duty, began responding to the scene.
Both Cyr and Brown caught Donaldson, says PPD reports, on Creighton Road, just east of the CVS. At 7:37 he was taken into custody and charged with armed robbery. Reports indicate the Gun Crime Response Team was activated and a firearm has not been recovered.
