State Attorney Bill Eddins announced today that a competency hearing set before Circuit Judge John Simon at earlier this week resulted in a ruling stating William Brandon Aydelott is unfit to stand trial.
William Brandon Aydelott was previously indicted for first degree premeditated murder with a Weapon in the death of his mother, Sharon Lynn Aydelott.
Earlier this month, a Santa Rosa County frand jury indicted William Brandon Aydelott for first degree premeditated murder with a weapon in the
death of his mother, Sharon Lynn Aydelott.
Sheriff's officials say Aydelott beat and stabbed his mother, Sharon Aydelott, to death in her Gulf Breeze home on December 24, 2013. Aydelott is scheduled to be arraigned on January 23, 2014.
Both the investigation and arrest were conducted by the Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office.
Assistant State Attorney Jenny Kinsey is prosecuting the case.
