Speak Out – January 15

Thursday 1:13 p.m.

Yeah, call me L.L, Cool. The reason I called is on December 1 I got a letter from the county traffic company about the light at Glover and Caroline.  The letter said I ran a red light.  It happened so long ago, I don't remember. They said I did it in November.   It had a picture on there and evidently I ran it.  I thought they couldn't write tickets.  Everyone else I've talked to who got a letter said they got a warning.  All the sudden they're starting to fine people?  It's $158.  Come on now.  Anyway, that's all I've got to say.  I don't think it's right.  I think they should give you a chance.  It's the first time I've gotten anything from there.

Thursday 1:30 p.m.

This is Joanne.  Your Saturday, January 4 headline indicated a man stole a computer because he was hungry.  There is no reason anyone from Milton should be hungry.  There is a Manna Food Bank location at the Community of Christ Church on Raymond Hobbs Street. There are individuals to hand out food on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9 to 12  and  Fridays 12 to 3. ID and a social security card are required. In addition there is a free cold lunch on Dogwood Dr at Christ Methodist Church.  Check and see.  There's plenty of help available.

Friday 6:28 a.m.

This is Mary, a concerned senior citizen.  I keep seeing this about the 17 year-old boy who killed his mama and beat her.  I'm wondering where is the daddy figure? We've not seen anything about him.  What was his responsibility?  What was his relationship with the boy?  Anytime you have a divorce, it upsets children, especially the boys. It tears them apart.  This boy didn't do this overnight.  This isn't the first time she's had a problem with her son.  I'd like an update on the father figure.

Friday 7:13 a.m.

This is Bobby.  I read Lynne Hough's column Wednesday and I've heard that exact same story for several years and I've often wondered why, if everybody knows, why the law doesn't do anything about it?  The same thing goes for these drug houses around different parts of the county. Everybody knows where they're at.  They stop people as they're leaving the drug houses.  They get them for having drugs with them.  So they got to know where they're getting them.  I guess the movies must be totally made up. You see them on these shows that are real and they send people in and they get evidence and they bust up the houses.  I know they do some of that around here but they don't do enough.

Friday 11:33 a.m.

Hello.  I'd like to concur with Steven King's letter to the editor on January 8.  He makes a valid point.  Thank you.

Friday 8:39 p.m.

On Friday night at the corner of Hwy 90 and Dogwood Road there were some people spouting the Word of God. Me being a Christian person myself I have no problem with that.  But when you get into my car and shout in my ear it is very hurtful to me. I do have a problem with that. What you're saying is being addressed straight at me.  These people should be taken off the road. This should not be aloud. And this person also told me to come back and face him. Where they come off with the violence, I don't know.   They're supposed to be Christian and they're yelling at you. I love God, I love my country.  Barack Obama is my president.  If you don't like it, get out of my country.  God Bless.

Saturday 2:06 p.m.

Yes, if anyone remembers Ariel Sharon from Israel.  The man was a killer, a tyrant. He killed a lot of Palestinians. He killed a lot of people in Beirut.  In Lebanon. Everywhere he went.  He only represents violence.   He wasn't a peacemaker.  I hope they remember that.  He's not a peacemaker.  Thank you. This is Maria in Milton.

Thursday 9:45 a.m.

Hi.  I want to thank both Pamela and Lynne for their beautiful columns in the Saturday December 28th newspaper.  Pamela's column on truthfulness and honesty was right on. Thank you Pamela.  And I very much enjoyed Lynne's comments on being positive and the importance of prayer.  Thank you.

Thursday 7:13 p.m.

Hey this is Dennis.  On the matter of Afghanistan.  Ask both the republicans and democrats…why are we still there?  Why in the world are we still fighting in Afghanistan?  How long does it take to say mission accomplished? I don't care if it was a republican or democratic president.  How about picking up the phone and saying bring the troops home?  I may be wrong but we've been fighting over there for 24 years.

Saturday 10:19 a.m.

This is Maria in Milton.  It's going to be hard for the family of Corey Goodman, the seventeen year old who lost his life by the hands of (Pensacola) police.  He will never grow old and we will grow old.  We're your family and friends.  God will take care of you.  Thank you.
