The City of Milton has issued a boil water notice for a limited section around Highway 90 because a main water line was compromised due to freezing temperatures
Joe Cook, head of the utilities department for Milton says city officials recommend boiling water for consumption until bacteria testing comes back clear. Earlier today in the Santa Rosa County Administration building parking lot, the water main burst and spewed water into the vicinity.
Cook says the blowout of the main line caused the line to have to be cut open. In doing so, the line was brought below 20 psi. "Whenever that happens, and the line has been compromised, we have to issue a boil water notice," says Cook.
Cook says the line and intersection of the line was old and the freeze caused further deterioration.
