Speak Out – Dec. 25, 2013

Wednesday 4:44 p.m.

Hey it's Jeff here.  Thanks for the response on the fence on Old Hickory Hammock.  I've called the county, clerk of court, administration number, tax assessor.  I've left messages and been transferred around. People are just clueless and irritated because I'm questioning stuff like that. I ended up with Randy Jorgenson's office one time.  I've never thought of DOT. I'll call them also.  Maybe between the two of us we'll get an answer.  It's a waste of money to have that there.

Wednesday 4:50 p.m.

I'm with Jim.  The courthouse should be in the old Food World building. All of these empty buildings in Milton are ridiculous.  Pretty soon we'll be spending millions of dollars to get the rats out of them.  Where are the animals for adoption?  I never see them in the paper anymore.

Wednesday 5:36 p.m.

This is Bobby.  (Someone) keeps calling in worried about the fence on Hickory Hammock. He must never leave home because it's not just Hickory Hammock it's up and down I-10. It's always been there but it's just taller. It's to keep deer from jumping over and getting hit by cars.  Unless you got kangaroos are out there.

Wednesday 5:51 p.m.

This is Bobby.  To the guy who called in about the rebel flags at the redneck parade.  The flag doesn't mean the same thing to us as it does to him.  It has nothing to do with race.  He'd be safe there.  To us it represents a way of life and self sufficiency to us as well as him if he's from around here.  He'd be safe there amongst the flags more than me if I went to the wrong neighborhood in Pensacola, if you get my drift.   Don't worry about the flags.

Wednesday 7:26 p.m.

This is Dennis.  I believe three different types of people have guns.  Bad people, insane people, and good people.  Liberals and some democrats think the best way to curb gun violence is to take away guns from the good people.  Bad and insane people will not give up their guns.  If that happens, good people will have to resort to throwing rocks and shooting bow and arrows at the bad and insane people.  I'm just guessing, but most all gun related crimes are committed by bad and insane people.

Wednesday 11:01 p.m.

I'm calling in regarding to a telephone call to the 911 dispatcher.  I'm trying to read between the lines here, someone didn't know whether or not the domestic violence was in the city or the county. The dispatch told him to call the county himself. He didn't have a pencil or paper to write the number down. I'm wondering whether or not the domestic violence incident on the front page where two people argued all day and one ended up in the hospital and one ended up in jail.  Maybe the dispatcher didn't have the right address. These things need to be taken care of.

Thursday 10:12 a.m.

This is in regards to the gentleman who called in about the Christmas Redneck Parade?  I went a few years ago and was totally offended.  I wouldn't go back if some one paid me.  It was disrespectful. And yeah, I thought maybe I was the only one who felt that way.  I totally agree with him.  Merry Christmas to everyone.

Thursday 12:15 p.m.

This is in response to Agent Edward Snowden who hides in Russia giving away our secrets.  But what really needs to be done is what back when our leaders were men, had back bone and guts. It was the United States of  America.

Thursday 2:05 p.m.

This is Bobby.  I guess everyone has heard about Phil Robertson on Duck Dynasty getting kicked off because he said something in a magazine interview about homosexuals.  It's pitiful when you can't have a personal opinion when it's in the Bible and they try to make him apologize for sin?  You shouldn't have to like everybody. You should be able to have a lot of different opinions. He didn't say it on the show but in a magazine. That's just bad. There's people who don't like (other people) and he has to apologize for something, you know he doesn't mean it. Why should he have to apologize for something he believes and has nothing to do with the show?

Friday 7:52 a.m.

This is John.  My church over the last few years has received gifts from the Pace Christmas parade.  We didn't receive them this year.  I found out the fire department charged $30 per entry. I thought they were nonprofit. Giving gifts to participate in the parade so the church benefited and the parade kids benefited from that. I feel sorry the fire department has to beg for money. They do a fundraiser for benevolence every year for pictures.  They can't afford to put on a parade?  Shame on Pace.
