A Gulf Breeze teen arrested for the March traffic death of pedestrian in Gulf Breeze has been shot and killed by Pensacola Police after leaving a note at home for his parents.
Pensacola Police say William Goodman, 17, Gulf Breeze, was shot inside his vehicle after ramming police vehicles following a 100 mph chase, and then running over the leg of a Pensacola Police sergeant.
Goodman had been arrested in March after hitting a man and his daughter walking along Laurel Drive, just east of Oriole Beach Rd., in a residential Gulf Breeze neighborhood.
At the time, Florida Highway Patrol investigators said Goodman was driving over the speed limit when he tried to pass the couple walking. Reports say his car struck Michael Labelle and his mirror struck Michelle Labelle, 40, injuring her. Michael Labelle was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Goodman was charged with vehicular homicide and reckless driving resulting in a serious injury.
Pensacola Police say they were in a pursuit with Goodman Tuesday morning, traveling at speeds over 100 miles an hour. Around 5:30 a.m. near 17th Ave. and Bayfront Parkway officers blocked Goodman's 2009 Corvette with police cars.
PPD says Goodman began ramming the police cruisers and ran over the leg of Sgt. Steve Bauer.
That's when Officer Chad Willhite fired into the Corvette and hit Goodman. He was transported to a local hospital where he died from his wounds.
Goodman had a March 2014 court date for the charges against him.
Police say his parents found a handwritten note from him prior to the incident, left at their home.
Bauer was treated and released from a local hospital, according to PPD.
The streets where the incident occured are open.
