Investigators from multiple jurisdictions converged on Santa Rosa County late yesterday to execute a felony arrest warrant.
The warrant was for a murder which occurred in Lawrence County Alabama in 2006 which had ties to a 1981 murder in Niceville, Florida.
This multi-jurisdictional investigation led investigators to believe Garry Ray Lindsey who is 59 years of age murdered a man in Lawrence County Alabama in February of 2006.
This investigation began with a cold case murder file from 1981.
Detectives with the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office were working the investigation involving a victim by the name of Buddy Phelps. During the course of this active investigation, Lindsey was named as a “Person of Interest”.
As the investigation continued, sufficient evidence was obtained to charge Lindsey with a murder in Lawrence County Alabama.
Garry Ray Lindsey is a long time citizen of Santa Rosa County. He resided at 2536 Pleasant Grove Rd in Milton.
It is believed there could be more information in Santa Rosa County that Detective may want to know about regarding suspicious activity during these time frames.
