A Milton man involved in a domestic argument with his girlfriend was arrested by Milton Police after he threw several rocks at her rescuer, injuring the man’s head according to police reports.
Gregory Omar Johnson, 28, 5700 Vonnie Branch Rd., Milton, is accused of fighting outside the Dollar General on North Stewart St with his girlfriend. A witness called the disturbance in to police, according to Captain David Cox.
An ambulance was dispatched, along with Milton Police. When they arrived a 71-year-old man was found bleeding from the head. Cox says Johnson “split his head open”, referring to the victim and noting the man was a friend of Johnson’s girlfriend, and had driven there to give her a ride during the disturbance. According to reports, several rocks were thrown at the victim, who was sitting in his vehicle in the driver’s seat.
After injuring the man, reports say Johnson left the location on foot.
A direction of travel and description of Johnson was put out to officers patrolling the area and Johnson was picked up a few minutes later, according to emergency radio transmissions.
The victim was treated at the scene, but refused ambulance transport and found his own transportation to the hospital.
Cox says Johnson was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated battery and a single charge of weapon offense. All three charges are felonies, according to jail reports. Johnson was released on Sunday on a $20,000 bond.
