Three vehicle crashes have left two people dead and a Pace man in serious condition.
Late Friday night, the Florida Highway Patrol says a 39-year-old Milton man died in a one-car crash when he lost control of his vehicle on Twilight Dr.
Reports say Shawn Edward Nava was traveling west on Twilight Dr. and ran off the road, continuing on the south side of the soft grassy area. He continued traveling northwest until the 1995 Toyota Camry he was driving hit a guide wire near Osage Trail. The car flipped and landed on its roof, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Nava was partially ejected and died at the scene from injuries incurred in the accident, reports say.
FHP says Nava was not wearing a seatbelt. Blood alcohol test results are pending. Anyone with information about this crash is asked to contact FHP Cpl. Karasek at 484-5000.
A Pensacola man was killed Thursday when an 18-wheeler pulled out onto Nine Mile Road (Hwy. 90), into the path of his vehicle.
FHP says a Peterbilt Conventional tractor-trailer driven by Steven Allen Carr, 56, Union Grove, Ala. was traveling north, exiting the driveway of 3191 West Nine Mile Road where the driver attempted to turn left onto US-90.
A 1998 Dodge Ram driven by Allen T. Billman, 41, Pensacola, was traveling eastbound on Nine Mile Rd., according to FHP. The Peterbilt entered the eastbound lanes of Nine Mile Rd. The front of the Dodge Ram collided with the left side of the semi. FHP says Billman was transported to Sacred Heart Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
Charges are pending the investigation, according to FHP.
In the third crash, a Pace man riding a bicycle at C.R. 297-A / Pine Cone Drive is in critical condition, according to the Florida Highway Patrol after going into the path of a vehicle. Dennis Michael Walker, 56, Pace, was listed in serious condition Friday afternoon following the accident.
FHP reports say Walker was traveling west on the north shoulder of C.R. 297-A on a bicycle when he attempted to turn left from the north shoulder of C.R. 297-A to cross the westbound lane of C.R. 297-A. His action put him into the path of a 2001 Nissan Frontier driven by Thomas H. Fulgham, 54, Pensacola, according to FHP, noting Walker violated the right-of-way of Fulgham, however no charges have been filed at this time.
