Jay chamber minutes; next meeting Monday Oct. 7

The Jay Area Chamber of Commerce met Monday, September 9, in the Jay Community Center's social hall.  Lunch was served at noon. Before lunch, President Jamie Mattina led the Pledge of Allegiance to the American flag; followed by a by a prayer by Nick Jackson.

After lunch, Jamie Mattina called the meeting to order.  She thanked Sabrina Owens and Escambia River Electric Cooperative for the delicious lunch, catered by the Rose Bowl.

Guests were introduced.  They were Amber Murphy of Medi-Home Health Agency; Phillip Wright, CEO of Santa Rosa Hospital; Pastor Laura Weant, Jay United Methodist Church; and Robert Williamson, candidate for the SRC Commission, District 4.

Sabrina Owens, Marketing with Escambia River Electric Cooperative, handed out an Energy Savers Booklet which gives tips on saving energy and money at home. 

The August chamber minutes were approved, as was the treasurer's report. 

There was no Military Affairs report.  Jackie Ard was unable to attend the last Military Update meeting.

The Trick or Treat event will take place at Jay's Bray-Hendricks City Park.  There will be a Costume Contest.  Businesses will be handing out candy. 

The event begins at 5 p.m.

The sign-up sheet for sponsoring lunch for the Jay Chamber meetings was passed around.

 Relay for Life, Jay, will have a meeting on October 17 at 6 p.m. in the Jay Community Center's social hall.  Jay's Relay for Life event will be held April 12, 2014.

The Jay Chamber will again sponsor the Jay Quarterback Club the same as last year.

Brenda Gabbert welcomed everyone to the 24th annual Peanut Festival October 5-6 at the Gabbert Farm.  Fliers were passed out.

The next Jay Chamber meeting will be held Monday, October 7 in the Jay Community Center's social hall at noon.  Lunch will be provided by the Santa Rosa County Chamber of Commerce.
