The 2013 SPHL President's Cup Champion Pensacola Ice Flyers are entering their fifth season and have released the 2013-14 regular season schedule. The Ice Flyers will open the season with a special championship celebration night on Friday, Oct. 25 against the Columbus Cottonmouths in a battle of the SPHL's past two champions. The historical night will feature the raising of the 2012-13 SPHL championship banner to the rafters of the Pensacola Bay Center, the championship ring presentation, and championship jersey auction, along with pre- and post-game events. They will wrap up opening weekend the next night in Biloxi with the first of 11 meetings between the Mississippi Surge and the Ice Flyers (five in Biloxi, six in Pensacola). The Ice Flyers will also face off against their other I-10 rival, the Louisiana IceGators, a total of 10 times (five in Lafayette, five in Pensacola). Pensacola will make their first trip to Illinois in November when they travel to Peoria for a three-game set against the Peoria Rivermen November 21-23. The Rivermen won't make their appearance in the Hangar until March when they come down for two games March 14-15. The Ice Flyers won't face off against the league's other Illinois-based team until 2014 when the Bloomington Thunder come to the Pensacola Bay Center January 31 and February 1 before the Ice Flyers head to Bloomington for the final weekend of the season, March 21-22. All Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday home games for the Ice Flyers will begin at 6:35 p.m. while Friday and Saturday games will have a 7:05 p.m. puck drop.
