Over 82 people from Santa Rosa and Escambia County came out to hear Bill Bledsoe speak on the Common Core educational program that is to be implemented into local schools and throughout the State of Florida. Bill offered his opinion on Common Core, saying he believes it will prove to be one of the most damaging forms of curriculum to ever be in our school system. Bill covered the basics such as how history, math and other curriculum would now be taught. There was too much material to cover in one hour so Bill encouraged everyone to learn everything they could about Common Core through the material he compiled and distributed. Bill encouraged everyone to Google Common Core and study it. He also challenged them to contact their local school board and state leaders, saying he would like to see them stop the implementation of Common Core in the State of Florida.
Mike Hill the newest House Member for District 2 in the Florida House of Representatives also spoke to the group and shared his values and goals as a newly elected representative. He stated firmly that he intends to stay within the tea party core values of Fiscal Responsibility, Constitutionally Limited Government, and Free Markets. He promised to weigh everything to be sure it is constitutional. Santa Rosa Tea Party Patriots reminded Representative Hill that they would hold his feet to the fire by showing him a mock display of boots in the fire, Mike placed his picture in the boots to symbolize that he expected them to do just that. After a time of questions from the audience that ranged from bills on International law not being used in Florida courts to repealing unnecessary laws on the books, Mike talked individually with the many people waiting to shake his hand.
