Troopers ask for public's help in finding hit and run pickup truck

The Florida Highway Patrol says at the intersection of State Road 4 and Booker Lane in Jay, a hit and run occurred at 3:30 Monday afternoon. Now they are searching for a tan full size GMC/Chevrolet pickup truck with front end damage. The grill and right headline popped out at the scene of the crash, but were still attached to the gtruck.

Witnesses say the driver of the vehicle, a tan white male, 5'7 with a star tattoo around his navel, was verbally aggressive and fled the scene immediately following the crash.

52-year-old Zane B. Burkhead, was driving the other vehicle, a 1997 Ford F250. He received minor injuries. He told FHP that he was sitting in his truck in the westbound lane at the intersection of SR4 and Booker Lane when his truck was hit from behind by the tan full-sized pickup truck.

Anyone with information about this vehicle or driver is asked to call Trooper J.M. Tucker at 484-5000 extension 330 or email at JoshuaTucker@flhsmv.gov.
