Call to artists – benefit photo show seeks entries

The 20th annual Power of Photography Show will be held at the Pensacola Museum of Art on July 19-21.  Original photo entries are being accepted through June 29 to compete for over $5,000 in ribbons, cash, and prizes.

Three drop-off locations for early check-in are now accepting photos during business hours until June 27—Calagaz Photo Pensacola (formerly Rob's Photo), 6895 N. 9th Ave.; Pensacola Photo Supply, 410 E. Wright St.; and Calagaz Photo Mobile, 90 Springdale Blvd. in Mobile.

Final check-in is Saturday, June 29, at ARC Gateway, 3932 N. 10th Ave. (off Fairfield) in Pensacola, from 10 am to 2 pm.  The 300 top-scoring adult entries and all youth entries will be given show ribbons and displayed downtown, beginning with Gallery Night on July 19.

Coordinated by the Wide Angle Photo Club, this juried contest is a benefit for ARC Gateway, which serves hundreds of disabled children and adults.  Honorary show chair is WEAR-TV3 news anchor Sue Straughn, who will personally select one image to receive the award that bears her name.

Photos must be submitted as prints that are mounted and matted for display.  Entry forms, contest rules, entry fees, and a list of prize categories are available online at www.wideanglephotoclub.org.  Questions may be phoned to Dick Weaver at 712-6237 or emailed to Tim Brooks at tbrooks@cerainc.com.
