Speak Out!

Tuesday – 11:49 a.m.

City of Milton no longer going to hire smokers. Are they going to continue to hire overweight people who cost more in their lifetime than smokers do, by far? They are less productive than smokers are, on labor jobs especially. So, what if a young person came back from Afghanistan and there's a job opening that he or she applied for, but they smoke. They're not going to hire them? This is amazing to me. Smokers are cost factor plus for government. Do obese people pay taxes on what they get obese. Smokers, they do, on what they use. By the way, does anybody know that there's nine people on the city council, more than the county commissioners, more than the school board. What do you think? Bye.

Wednesday 10:50 a.m.

Yeah, this is Bobby. I keep hearing about the Air traffic controllers, you know, they got to slow down on flights and all because Mr. Obama wants to slow the country down so everybody will want to spend more money. They said the air traffic controllers have to take one day off every third week. Well, that's not going to save any money. Because they've all been there a while. They got plenty of vacation time. And they'll just take a day's vacation every three weeks. And so, they still get paid.I think it's all for show. Thank you.

Wednesday 1:23 p.m.

Thought the Press Gazette was for Santa Rosa County. Funny how all of the legals in today, Wednesday's paper are from Okaloosa County and none for Santa Rosa. Ya'll really goofed.

Wednesday – 4:29 p.m.

Yeah, this is Rick. In reply to Bill Brown's letter to the editor about the bus service, I have reread the Gazette's article on it. And there is nothing wrong with it. I believe it's just reporting the facts. Drivers said this. The unions said that. Reports show this.

If Bill Brown feels offended by these, what he calls slanderous statements, then he must have a reason for it. He may be one of the reasons why they're having this meeting and these problems.

Also, as for Kenneth. Well Kenneth, I applaud you. I have had the chance to read parts of the Quran. And yes, it is calling for peace and harmony.

And as for the other part of the articles, as for the alcohol sales in Milton. Yeah, you're right, all the hypocrites went out there and interpreted the Bible the way they felt like it so they could run their own agenda. Well, alright. I hope you guys have a great day.

Wednesday 4:52 p.m.

This is Al and I want to comment on a Milton City Council vote on Sunday liquor sales, which they never voted on. I was born and I lived here all my life. I love living in Santa Rosa County, but one thing has never changed; separation of church and state.        After two great sermons from two of the Milton City Council members on the evils of old, demon rum.

They voted on the hours of sales during the week, never voted on the Sunday sales issue. Do the big churches rule people's lives in Santa Rosa County? Sort of like the NRA rules on the gun control vote?

Who would have ever believed we would go wet in this county? Not me. But times are changing. The old school politicians will be replaced by younger, modern thinkers. And we will modernize slowly with them.

We could not have dances at our rural school because our local churches objected.

So here's to it. A toast to the old, religious, cantankerous politicians. You won again. But our time's a-coming. Thank you.

Thursday 7:45 a.m.

This is about drinking. I read my Bible also. Verse Timothy 5:23 "Save a little wine for thy stomach sake." How much is little? Also proverbs 23:29-33. Need to read that. I was raised in an alcoholic home. I know the devastating effects of what it does. Thank you.
