EscaRosa Coalition On the Homeless presents “A Nite at the Races” fundraiser beginning at 5 pm, Saturday, May 4, at the Gregory Street Assembly Hall, 501 East Gregory St, Pensacola, FL 32502.
Our exciting evening will kick off with the real Run for the Roses, the Kentucky Derby at 5 p.m. on May 4, followed by eight of our races including 12 horses in each race.
“A Nite at the Races” is going to be thoroughbred racing via DVD projection on a large screen. A professional racetrack announcer narrates the races using the horses’ saddle numbers. The program contains horse numbers and names of entries for each race that the horse “owners” have chosen.
Advanced tickets for the evening start at $25 each and include the cost of light hors d’oeuvres and “Funny Money” Tokens for “wagering”. Parade of Prizes is at the end of the evening. Cash Bar is available. Wear your best “Derby” Hat/Outfit for prizes (Best Derby Male, Female and Group). You will have a chance to meet Tuffy – A Real American Quarter Horse Hero. Tuffy is a real horse that supports education by supporting the teachers who teach and the students who learn.
The cost of owning your own horse and stable is $25. The name of your horse and your stable will be included in the Official Race Program. If your horse wins the race, you will receive a prize (gift certificate or merchandise.)
Proceeds from this event will go to the EscaRosa Coalition on the Homeless to benefit local homeless men, women and children with unmet emergency services such as housing, transportation, utilities, food, clothing and healthcare.
ECOH is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization formed in 1987 to build alliances that would prevent and eliminate homelessness in our community. Such alliances would not be possible without the determination of a handful of individuals, social service providers, volunteers, and assistance from our local government. Together, we bridge limited resources with the changing needs of our community in an effort to promote a coordinated approach for ending homelessness that centers on providing guidance and services to empower individuals to be self-sufficient citizens.
Through these many collaborations and as the lead agency for the Continuum of Care for all of Santa Rosa and Escambia counties, serving the homeless. Now we are asking you to please help make “A Nite at the Races" fundraiser memorable and successful. With your support, we want this to become an annual event that brings the community together in creating awareness and funding for the many services offered by ECOH each year.
Many thanks to our sponsors who have made this event possible: Santa Rosa Medical Center, Escambia Community Clinics, Lakeview Center, Monument to Women Veterans, Bizzell, Neff and Galloway, PA.
