Agencies partner in Milton to provide low cost horse clinic

Milton, Florida – The Santa Rosa County Horse Assistance Council, Inc. announces plans for a combined low cost gelding clinic in conjunction with a low cost Coggins and vaccination clinic for horse owners in the following Florida counties: Santa Rosa, Escambia and Okaloosa.

Dr. David Henderson, Village Veterinarian Inc. will perform the veterinary services for these clinics on Saturday, April 20 in Milton, Florida.

“Currently, the number of unwanted horses in Santa Rosa, Escambia and Okaloosa counties exceeds the current resources available to support them," said Maureen Cleveland, Contact for the SRCHAC. “In an effort to reduce the number of unwanted horses due to accidental or indiscriminate breeding in Northwest Florida, SRCHAC has partnered with the Unwanted Horse Coalition and the ASPCA to sponsor a low-cost gelding clinic available to approved stallion owners.

SRCHAC received grants from Unwanted Horse Coalition (UHC) and ASPCA in February, and with combined funds received from SRCHAC annual fundraisers and community donations will afford stallion owners an opportunity to participate in a program which will promote fewer unwanted offspring, and further reduce the financial burden of caring for an unwanted or unneeded offspring”.

“A portion of the ASPCA grant will be combined with additional SRCHAC donations to help fund a low cost Coggins and vaccination clinic to qualified horses owners in Santa Rosa, Escambia and Okaloosa counties of Florida on the same day”, stated Mrs. Cleveland. “Applications will be available at area feed and tack stores, and can be downloaded from our website at www.srchac.org.”

SRCHAC operates solely with volunteers and is funded through the generosity of the public.
