A Thursday night accident on Interstate 10 left one Milton woman dead, and a Milton man in serious condition according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).
The crash happened Thursday evening just before 9 p.m. between Avalon Blvd. and the Escambia Bay Bridge. FHP Corporal Robert Harrigill says Laurie Ann Povinelli, 50, Milton, was killed when the 2005 Chevrolet Aveo she was driving westbound on I10 crossed the center grassy median, spun counterclockwise and hit a 2008 Jeep Liberty. The Jeep had been going east on I10, driven by Joshua S. Poole, 28, Milton, Harrigill notes.
Upon impact, FHP says the Jeep broke into two pieces, spun clockwise and rolled onto its right side.
Povinelli was pronounced dead at the scene. Poole was transported to Sacred Heart Hospital. The accident is being investigated by FHP.
