The man accused of trying to kill a deputy with the vehicle he was driving during a police pursuit last week is still being held in the Santa Rosa County jail.
Dominic Jerome Jabbar Turner has not met the $660,000 bond placed on him after he was arrested last Friday.
Santa Rosa Sheriff's deputies say Turner led them on a police chase that began just before midnight after he was recognized from an earlier domestic violence incident in Navarre.
The pursuit began when Turner would not stop for a deputy near the Target Store on Hwy. 90 in Pace. It ended at Pleasant Grove road when the damaged car Turner was driving refused to go any further. Deputies say the car became damaged when Turner deliberately struck a deputy with his car, then hit a tree.
Reports say, after the pursuit ended, Turner was not done. He continued by physically fighting with deputies and breaking several fingers on one deputy's hand. After it became obvious he would continue the struggle, the K-9 was called in to subdue Turner. It did.
