East Milton Elementary gets new principal

Terry Paschall

Effective Jan. 25, Terry Paschall will be appointed principal at East Milton Elementary School, according to school board records.

At the board meeting on Jan. 8, Jerilyn Hughes, principal at East Milton Elementary School, was transferred temporarily to “administrator on special assignment” at the Berryhill Administrative Complex to work with David Johnson in the Continuous Improvement and Alternative Academics Program Office.

Superintendent Tim Wyrosdick said the transfer was not because of job performance and is consistent with the way the school has handled other similar situations. Wyrosdick would not comment to the Press Gazette about the purpose of the move.

Wyrosdick emphasized that the move is a temporary assignment and a lateral transfer at the same pay grade.

Johnson said Hughes has been assigned to work in four areas of continuous improvement: response to intervention, school improvement and district improvement, achievable measurable objectives, and accreditation.

According to Lewis Lynn, assistant superintendent for human resources, the school district is planning to fill the assistant principal position before the end of the year.
