A Pace man was arrested Monday by Santa Rosa deputies, charged after an alleged domestic violence incident.

Heath Steven Thach, 33, 4691 Fowler Drive, Pace, was charged with one count felony battery by strangulation and one count obstructing justice intimidate threaten victim/witness.

A 911 hang-up call to sheriff's dispatchers led to deputies being sent to the home of Thach. Dispatchers reporting a woman yelling that she needed the police prompted the complaint. When deputies arrived, reports say Thach was outside on the porch and ran into the house.

As the deputy followed Thach inside, he saw the suspect grab a little girl. The adult female victim was "sitting in a fetal position at the kitchen entrance screaming as I moved toward (Thach)." The deputy ordered the man to put the child down and after a second request, the child was set on the floor and ran to the woman.

After interviews and an investigation at the scene, deputies documented injuries and marks on the adult female victim. Thach was arrested and taken to the Santa Rosa County jail.

While there, reports note Thach verbally threatened the woman, telling her in front of correctional deputies that the woman and her child "were dead".

Tuesday night, jail records showed Thach still in custody under a $10,000 bond.
