Regional TPO to host inaugural transportation symposium

The Northwest Florida Regional Transportation Planning Organization and the West Florida Regional Planning Council will host the inaugural Emerald Coast Transportation Symposium from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jan. 16 at the Emerald Coast Convention Center in Fort Walton Beach. The purpose is to discuss financing the transportation network in the Florida Panhandle including Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa and Walton counties. This event will provide a unique opportunity to reach out across multiple organizations and bring together a variety of individuals involved with transportation. Speakers and attendees will include public- and private-sector representatives, as well as local, state and federal officials. The keynote speaker is Ananth Prasad, secretary of the Florida Department of Transportation. To register, visit www.wfrpc.org. There is a $20 registration fee, and lunch will be provided.
