MILTON — Police are searching for two suspects of a drive-by shooting Sunday morning.
The victim was uninjured, dropping to the ground when shots were fired. Police responded to a call about the shooting at about 10:30 a.m., according to a press release from the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office.
The suspects, Gregory Omar Johnson, 27 and his 24-year-old girlfriend, Barbara Leann Baggett were seen, by the victim and other witnesses, driving by a residence on Julia Drive in Milton. Baggett was driving and Johnson was leaning out of the passenger window with a handgun, the release said.
Johnson fired about four shots at an adult man standing near his vehicle who dropped to the ground. Police found a bullet hole in the man’s vehicle and a spent round nearby, according to the release.
According to the Sheriff’s office, the Caprice sped away after shots were fired. The event is believed to be in retaliation for Johnson’s cousin’s arrest in Escambia County on Friday.
The suspects were last seen driving a light blue 1980’s Chevrolet Caprice with large chrome rims, rusted hood and “Donald Duck” painted on the trunk.
The suspects are wanted for aggravated assault with a firearm, discharging a firearm in public and firing a weapon into a dwelling or vehicle, the release said. Johnson is also wanted for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
The Sheriff’s Office warned people against approaching either subject because they may be armed.
Anyone with information of the whereabouts of Johnson or Baggett should contact your local law enforcement agency or Santa Rosa Crime Stoppers at 437-STOP (7867).
