Local physician receives award for service

Family physician Dennis Mayeaux of Milton, received the Part-Time Educator Award from the Florida Academy of Family Physicians in recognition for his dedication and expertise in providing high-quality instruction to physicians in all phases of their medical training and practice.  The annual award is given to a physician who has shown exemplary work as a mentor and educator to young physicians. “There is something extraordinarily special about being recognized and appreciated by the next generation for making them work harder,” Mayeaux said. “If we can continue to reinforce to our newest physicians that a career in medicine is first and foremost a journey into public service, they will become the greatest physicians yet.” Mayeaux will receive his award during the FAFP’s Family Medicine Winter Summit on Dec. 15 at Amelia Island. The Florida Academy of Family Physicians represents more than 4,300 family physicians, residents and medical students throughout Florida. Through its association with the AAFP, the Florida Academy strives to promote and maintain the highest quality standards for Florida’s family physicians, provide advocacy, representation, continuing education, and leadership opportunities. Also, the FAFP helps to advocate key issues among patients — promoting quality, cost-effective healthcare for all Floridians.
