Shoppers in downtown Milton now have the added convenience of a new Business Guide developed by the Main Street Milton staff. It’s in the form of a smartphone app that will make shopping downtown a lot easier.
The new app is designed as a business guide in hand-held form that will feature different categories for departments such as Dining, Shopping, Services, Events Lodging, and Attractions.
The new app will include all the businesses in Main Street Milton’s program area. In addition it will provide information about all of Santa Rosa County’s lodging establishments and all events such as museums, canoeing facilities, and art galleries.
According to Main Street Milton’s manager Joshua Wilks, the events tab is linked to the organization’s online calendar that reflect all submitted community events.
“We developed this app to promote our local businesses in more ways than traditional methods of promotion we’re used to seeing,” said Wilks who is also a Main Street Milton’s member who facilitated the development of the app. “We’re still adjusting the kinks, but the app is immediately ready to download and use.”
Wilks also said that Main Street Milton is not only targeting locals who wish to make better decisions about supporting locals businesses by searching for businesses on their phone, but is also targeting the thousands of visitors who want to support local businesses, organizations, and events.
He also said business members of Main Street Milton have an opportunity to expand their listing by uploading sales, specials, events, social media links, pictures and so forth. Advertising is also available on the app. Business membership in the organization is $35 which helps offset the costs the cost of the app.
According to Wilks the app is free to download and is available in the Tunes store (for iPhone users) and Google Play (for Android users). The search terms for the app are “Downtown Milton FL,”
