The last week of the regular season wrapped up and now four Santa Rosa County teams are headed to the post season where one loss and the season is over.
Friday saw Jay finish their regular season on a positive note sending out its 10 seniors with a 50-22 win over Munroe Day High.
The Royals (4-6; 0-3 in District 1-A) jumped out to an early lead with a touchdown and then a safety after pinning the Cougars deep in their own territory.
Defensively it was Hunter Dillashaw's night with a punt return and interception return for touchdowns, while offensively Brandon Cross and Brandon Boutwell each scored two touchdowns each.
Despite being nagged by some stiffness, junior Ricky Cofield finished the season with roughly 1,300 yards.
While Jay is putting away their gear this week, the pads have been popping for Milton and Pace.
The 2012 District 1-6A Champions are preparing for a very tough Niceville squad this Friday at Haywood Hannah Stadium at 7:30 p.m.
Milton finished the season 7-3 and 5-1 in the district as it closed 2012's regular season with three consecutive district wins.
Niceville 6-3 and 3-2 in district play had to reel off three consecutive district wins to make the post season and appear to be peaking at the right time.
"We have been working hard at practice and taking advantage of the off week to let a few injuries heal," said Milton head coach Chafan Marsh. "We worked hard to get here and we have to do what we did at the end of the season if we hope to play on past this Friday."
While Marsh is getting ready for Niceville, Pace is getting ready for a second trip to Navarre this season.
The Patriots (7-3; 4-2) will face the Raiders of Navarre (9-1; 5-0) at 7:30 p.m.
Navarre looks to have an ample replacement in sophomore Matthew Webb.
Webb led the Raiders to their eight consecutive win last week after Andrew Rieves was injured in week 10.
The Patriots have struggled with their offense of late as they lost to Milton and barely held on for a one point win over Pensacola Catholic in their season finale.
Pace also took the week to heal up, but head coach Mickey Lindsey has definitely been reminding his squad the importance of this game and taking care of the football.
In each of their losses this season the Patriots have lost the turnover battle.
If you go to the games Friday, the FHSAA has set ticket prices at $8, according to Murray Rutledge, Milton High School's Athletic Director.
The only passes to be accepted are State Series Passes.
No Panther Passes, FHSAA coach's cards, or reserved seating holders will be allowed in for free.
"If you purchased a reserved seat during the regular season you must still buy a ticket, but we will allow you to sit in the reserved section," Rutledge said.
Presale tickets will start on Thursday and will end at 1 p.m. on Friday. Gates to the stadium at Milton will open at 6 p.m.
