No, it’s not your imagination. If you happened to see ghosts, goblins or zombies walking down Willing Street over the past week, it’s a tell tale sign that Halloween is around the corner. That’s because Main Street Milton kicked off its Terror on Willing Street haunted house. The haunted house will run up until Halloween night. This is the fifth year that Main Street Milton has hosted the haunted house in downtown Milton. This is considered Main Street Milton’s biggest fundraiser of the year. “In the past five years we have taken in between $5,000 and $10,000,” said Peggi Smith with Main Street Milton. That money raised goes towards events like the Downtown Planter Project, First Friday Fest, Scratch Ankle, Little Mr. & Miss Scratch Ankle Pageant, Facade Improvement Grant, and general business development. The haunted house can take anywhere from 10 to 45 minutes to go through depending on a person’s speed. Smith said the haunted house is not recommended for children under 12. Admission to get into the haunted house is $5. But it’s not just haunted houses that will be haunting Highway 90. There will also be a haunted hayride in East Milton sponsored by the East Milton Youth Association. The haunted hayride is one of many events EMYA holds to raise money for their sporting complex and fields. The hayride runs from 7 p.m. to midnight tonight. “This is the third annual haunted hayride we have had,” said Steve Thames the vice president of the EMYA. Although EMYA has held the annual event in the past, the Boys and Girls Club of East Milton, whose building is on the grounds of the hayride, will also be participating in the haunted hayride. They will also benefit from the funds raised at the hayride. “Last year, we raised about $2,000,” Thames said. “This is our biggest fundraiser of the year.” Proceeds from the hayride go to purchasing sporting equipment for the children who play in sports in East Milton. This year, Thames said the hayride has a new route, which will take visitors on roughly a 15-minute ride through the football and t-ball fields. “We will also have concessions, different game booths and we are doing a cake walk,” Thames said. The Boys and Girls Club will also be hosting fun activities for the children. Tickets for the hayride are $3.
