This past week, Nell Thrash celebrated her 90th birthday. Thrash was born in Allentown on Oct. 15, 1922. She spent her childhood years growing up in numerous places throughout Santa Rosa County. Rassie Thrash, her husband of 63 years, was in the military and his career enabled her and her family to travel abroad and live in several interesting countries. After her husband retired from the military in 1963, they settled back home here in Santa Rosa County and she has lived here every since. On Oct. 13, her daughters; Jean Wendt and her husband Pat, Linda Shah and her husband, and Syliva Phillips, along with her two grandsons, David Dunlap and Chris Phillips, surprised her with a birthday party. She was surrounded with numerous friends and family members. David's wife, Vicki, made her a gorgeous three-tier birthday cake. Her brother, Dewey Wiggins, from Dallas and Herman Broom provided the musical entertainment. They did a great job! Many thanks to each of you that attended her celebration. You made it special!
