Tuesday morning the Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office found and arrested a man who had escaped from a Alabama jail.
Wesley Lee Gibson, 27, was found just after 3 a.m. when deputies responded to an audible alarm at First Baptist Church of Navarre, 9302 Navarre Parkway.
Gibson escaped on Sept. 29 from the Lauderdale County Alabama Jail along with three others. One of the three, Damien Lee Nix, was arrested shortly following the escape.
When deputies arrived at the church in Navarre they found that a window had been broken. Blood was observed inside the church through the broken window.
According to Sgt. Scott Haines in a pres release, a sheriff's K-9 unit responded to the scene and conducted a search of the area.
Gibson was found approximately 100 yards north of the building and was arrested without incident.
Haines reported that Gibson told officers he broke into the building because he didn't have anywhere to go.
Gibson was charted with burglary, criminal mischief, and theft.
Two other escapees from the Lauderdale County Alabama Jail remain at large.
Ricky Dewayne Lawson is a 28 year old white male who is 6-4 and weighs 170 pounds.
The other escapee at large is Robert Lee Brown, a 20 year old white mail who is 5-6 and weighs 164 pounds.
Haines is not sure if these two men are in Santa Rosa County, but indicated they are not ruling out the possibility of them being here or a neighboring county.
Gibson, Lawson, Brown, and Nix escaped from the Lauderdale County Alabama Jail when they climbed through an air vent in the roof to get outside and jumped a fence.
All four got into an awaiting vehicle driven by Lawson's father, Ernest Earl Lawson.
Lauderdale County Sheriff Ronnie Willis indicated Ernest Lawson gave three men a smalll about of money and they left his home.
Gibson was waiting to be transferred to prison after being convicted of a drug charge, while Nix, Ricky Lawson, and Brown were in jail on misdemeanor charges.
